Hooked
Long time football fan, brand new hockey fan - thanks to Eddie and Haswoe. So it was tough for me to see the Pens go down tonight. But I am *so* excited to be a fan of a team that showed so much heart through the playoffs - and Game 5 was probably one of the top 3 sporting events I have ever watched. So thanks Eddie, Haswoe, and the kids whose names I finally remember. Can't wait to see you all next season.

Ooooooo....Crosby! Such a great game tonight. And how about Malone playing with a face he go reconstructed THE DAY BEFORE!!! :)
And thanks to the best new Penguins fan ever! Tonight was a horrifically bitter pill to swallow, and one that will cause me to not quite be myself for the next few days, but how can you not be just so proud of what these kids accomplished. Quite phenomenal.
Thanks, AH, and I can't wait to see what next season brings, following the boys on TV with you, and also cheering on the Blackhawks too when we become season ticket holders.
And at least Sid can now get rid of his porntache.
Now I must resume my regularly scheduled depression and tears.
Or, you could ditch the losers, come with me and be a Red Wings fan! Woo! YEAH! You're new to this, and I understand how you could have made this error. I promise it's fun to ruin the hopes and dreams of Gary Bettman.
I will admit that the Penguins played hard, and they're a very good team. They could benefit from a "no mustache" rule, though.
See, doing that would violate one of my most dearly held sporting rules: you don't ditch your team when they lose. You don't get to celebrate the victories if you aren't there for the defeats. I still love CU, even when they play like muppets - and Arizona State, even though they were crushed in their last bowl game. And after the way the Pens played, it only makes me more proud to be a fan and more excited to cheer them on next year.
Plus, I lived in Avalanche country long enough to pick up a mild distaste for the Wings. I'm just sayin'.
Wow, Lucy - "ditch the losers"? I posted on my blog that "all hockey fans are classy", so don't let me down here.
Take a look at the Penguins fans applauding the Wings as they hoisted the Cup around Mellon Arena - that is what I call 'class', and it's a pleasure to have A'Hottie as one of those classy, and incredibly dedicated, Penguins fans.
Hey hey hey, calm down now Eddie, I clearly said that they were a good team and played hard! But they lost, so um, losers is sort of appropriate. There has to be a winner and a loser, it's just semantics. Perhaps poorly played on my part, but semantics nonetheless. You might want to rethink the "all class" statement too, just because if you take a look at the general population at any given game, probably not the case :) Either way, good series, nice work, you guys are gonna get a lot better a lot faster than we do.
And AH, the Avalanche? Let's discuss Claude Lemieux some time. Regardless, I admire your willingness not to switch. Being from the general Detroit area, I didn't have a choice. It's also why I was required to stick by through the "Dead Wings" era. And Michigan State football isn't exactly stellar (or even good), but I love them too. Hooray for sports!
Oh, I'm calm. The comment was aimed at the suggestion that you would "ditch" the losers, not at the fact they lost the Final - that part I understand. Sadly!
And in my blog post I was referring to, I certainly mentioned the 'exceptions to the rule' which of course exist (and in greater volumes in Philadelphia), but generally speaking, hockey fans are much classier than fans in other sports; highlighted by the fact that home fans will stay on and applaud the opposition team skating around with the Stanley Cup in their 'barn'.
Hockey rocks!
